Sun Protection and Skin Cancer Education: Tried and True, Plus Something New (Lecture)
Tuesday, September 23, 2008
12:00 pm - Westin St. Francis Hotel, St. Francis Suite, 335 Powell Street, San Francisco
Steven Tomlanovich, MD, Medical Director, Kidney Transplant Service
Sarah Tuttleton Arron, MD, PhD, UCSF Department of Dermatology

Post-transplant patients take immunosuppressive medications to prevent rejection of their new organs. Some of the side effects include heightened sensitivity to sun exposure and increased risk for skin cancer. Dr. Sarah Arron will discuss sun protection, skin self-examination, and skin cancer. Dr. Arron will also outline skin care for organ transplant recipients, and highlight the UCSF High Risk Skin Cancer Program’s latest research findings.

"The UCSF Dermatology High Risk Skin Cancer Program is devoted to the care of patients at risk for skin cancer due to organ transplant, leukemia/lymphoma, HIV infection, and genetic conditions associated with skin cancer."
