Transplantation in HIV+ Patients (Lecture)
Monday, September 22, 2008
5:00 pm - Westin St. Francis Hotel, St. Francis Suite, 335 Powell Street, San Francisco
Peter Stock, MD, PhD, Principal Investigator
Michelle Roland, MD, Co-Investigator
Laurie Carlson, RN, MSN, Study Coordinator

Just a few years ago, persons with HIV in need of kidney and liver transplants faced daunting odds. Community activists in San Francisco, together with concerned HIV and transplant physicians, worked collaboratively to challenge the medical community to explore new ways of making transplantation available and successful in persons with HIV. Dr. Stock, Dr. Michelle Roland and Ms. Carlson will discuss their work on this groundbreaking study, which is evaluating the safety and effectiveness of kidney and liver transplants in selected HIV infected individuals at 20 transplant centers nationwide.
